Wow, that's really hard - I have too many favs ...
Pre-GD - (when I was but a young thing): Pink Floyd, Nektar, Derek & the Dominos, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young
Late 70s - 90: Jerry Garcia, anything with John Cipollina, Hot Tuna, Allman Brothers
90s+: Jerry Garcia, Steve Kimock, Gov't Mule
So I guess the runner up is Jerry - he's accompanied me since my teenage days and I love all his stuff!

I really loved Nektar. The LPs were used when I got them and they sure had their wear. Big thick vinyl from the Bellaphon label and apparently quite valuable now. I have a few live shows on tape and actually saw them again 2005 in a small club in Germany. Not all the original members but it was a great show and they played all their old stuff with some new material thrown in.
They're back here next February.
